Bulawayo, Zimbabwe – Yesterday, marked the third day of the Green Skills Boot Camp, where youth from various districts including Beitbridge, Gwanda, Binga, Matobo, and Bulawayo gathered to pitch their innovative green ideas. This vibrant event was not just a platform for ideas; it was a celebration of creativity and a significant step toward a more sustainable future.

The atmosphere was electric as 13 passionate green entrepreneurs took the stage, presenting their unique solutions to an esteemed panel of judges. These young innovators had meticulously prepared for this moment, harnessing their creativity and dedication to showcase projects that promised to pave the way for a greener tomorrow. From cutting-edge eco-friendly technologies to innovative waste management strategies, the diversity of their proposals reflected a profound commitment to environmental sustainability.

Kicking off the day’s activities, expert facilitator Thubelihle Sibanda Ndlovu led a workshop on crafting effective elevator pitches.

Drawing on the Pitch Formula, Ndlovu emphasized four key elements that every entrepreneur needed to include: HookSolutionImpact, and Act. By encouraging participants to capture the audience’s attention, articulate their problems and solutions, and emphasize the potential positive effects of their projects, Ndlovu equipped these young entrepreneurs with the tools they needed to impress the adjudication panel and secure seed grants.

The presence of the YCA4SOTRA Board was also crucial that day, as their role extended beyond observation.

Actively participating in the selection process, board members were instrumental in determining which green innovative ideas would receive funding. Their commitment to nurturing these budding entrepreneurs underscored the significance of collaboration in achieving sustainable development goals.

As the pitches unfolded, it became evident that these young leaders were not merely dreamers; they were doers. Each presentation served as a testament to their hard work and vision for a sustainable future. The enthusiasm in the room was palpable, as attendees and judges alike rallied behind these changemakers who were actively working to create a better world. Their projects addressed pressing environmental issues, offering innovative solutions that were both practical and impactful.

Looking ahead, the excitement continued to build throughout the day. The Green Skills Boot Camp served as a vital platform for youth to engage with critical environmental issues, develop their entrepreneurial skills, and connect with like-minded individuals. The support from various stakeholders ensured that this initiative would have lasting effects, empowering young people to become leaders in the green economy.
