The highly anticipated Green Skills Boot Camp by Women’s Institute for Leadership Development (WILD) will kick off on August 5, 2025, to August 7, 2025. This transformative initiative is designed to foster inclusive economic empowerment for youth and women in Zimbabwe, addressing some of the most pressing challenges our communities face today. As we gear up for this exciting event, the potential it holds for participants, and the broader community is nothing short of inspiring.

In recent years, Zimbabwe has grappled with high youth unemployment rates, a situation that has left many young people feeling disheartened and marginalized. With over 60% of our population under the age of 35, the urgency to create opportunities for this demographic cannot be overstated. Unfortunately, many face significant barriers to formal employment, including limited job opportunities and under-resourced education systems. These challenges are particularly pronounced in regions such as Matabeleland North, Matabeleland North and Bulawayo, where the impacts of climate change further exacerbate existing issues. The looming threats posed by climate change make our mission to empower the youth even more critical.
The Green Skills Boot Camp aims to provide participants with hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to innovative green technologies and sustainable business models. This initiative is particularly focused on welcoming youth, especially young women, from Beitbridge, Binga, Bulawayo, Gwanda, and Matobo districts, where we are implementing the Youth Collection Action for Social Transformation Project. By engaging with these communities, we hope to unlock the potential of young individuals who are eager to make a difference.
What sets this Boot Camp apart is its holistic approach to empowerment. It is about cultivating a new generation of leaders in sustainability and innovation. Participants will learn vital skills that are in demand in today’s job market, equipping them to tackle environmental challenges head-on. The hands-on training will cover various aspects of green technologies, enabling participants to understand and implement sustainable practices in their future careers.
Moreover, mentorship will play a key role in the Boot Camp. Participants will have the opportunity to connect with industry leaders and seasoned professionals who can guide them on their journeys. This network of support will help young people navigate the complexities of the job market and inspire them to pursue their passions with confidence.
As the countdown to the Green Skills Boot Camp begins, we invite everyone to join us in this exciting journey. This Boot Camp represents a unique opportunity for personal and professional growth, and we can’t wait to see the positive impact it will have on participants and their communities.
Let’s make the Green Skills Boot Camp a stepping stone toward a brighter, greener future for Zimbabwe.
